Dr. McCarthy specializes in surgery of the aorta and the aortic valve including aortic valve repair, bicuspid aortic valve repair, valve-sparing aortic root replacement, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), ascending aorta and aortic root replacement, aortic arch replacement, endovascular repair of the aortic arch and descending thoracic aorta (TEVAR), coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), multi-arterial and total arterial CABG. Dr. McCarthy is also involved in research at Providence Sacred Heart as well as multi-institutional collaborations in the field of aortic surgery and aortic valve repair.
